The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has issued a public warning regarding a fraudulent recruitment scheme circulating online, falsely claiming to be for a “2025 General Population and Housing Census.”
The GSS strongly advises the public to disregard the information, including a link (https://tinyurl.com/GH-CENSUS-2025), as it is not authorized and is a scam.
In a press release issued on February 5th, 2025, the GSS clarified that official Population and Housing Censuses are conducted every 10 years, aligning with international best practices.

The most recent census took place in 2021, making the next one not due until 2031, debunking the claims of an upcoming census in 2025.
“GSS has not announced any recruitment for a census exercise,” the statement emphasized. “Any official communication on recruitment will be published only through GSS’s official channels,” the release stated.
The GSS has explicitly disclaimed any responsibility for losses, damages, or inconveniences resulting from engagement with the unauthorized scheme, vowing to take legal action against those behind the fraudulent acts.

“We urge the public to be vigilant against such misinformation and to verify all recruitment-related information directly from GSS.”
