The Shama Development Association has concluded its annual Miss Shama pageant as part of their Homecoming activities, with Ellen Tsotso Kangni taking home the coveted crown.
The event, which took place on November 26, 2023, at the Riverside Conference Center in Shama, aimed to promote and educate people about the vibrant culture and history of Shama.
Twelve contestants participated in the competition, with Tsotso ultimately being named Miss Shama 2023.

The winner was declared based on 40% voting and 60% performance. Ellen impressed the judges and the audience with her eloquence and cultural roots.
Hailing from Inchaban, a suburb of Shama, Ellen delivered an outstanding performance throughout the competition, leading to her victory.
Dorcas and Lordina were named 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.

In her post-win interview, Ellen shared her plans to raise awareness about gender-related health issues and empower women and girls through various programs.
She aims to address issues related to water, sanitation, hygiene, health, nutrition, livelihoods training, and education within the community
The Miss Shama 2023 pageant was not only entertaining but also served as an educational platform for all who attended.
