The University for Development Studies (UDS), School of Nursing and Midwifery, is now accepting applications for its Access Programme for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This programme is designed to provide Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) and Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP)/Community Health Nursing Certificate/CHN holders the opportunity to advance their education and careers.

The Access Programme offers pathways to three Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees:

  • BSc Nursing
  • BSc Midwifery
  • BSc Public Health Nursing

Targeted at Practicing Nurses

This initiative aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of existing healthcare professionals, contributing to a more qualified and robust healthcare workforce in Ghana.

The program recognizes the experience and dedication of NAC, NAP, and CHN holders and provides a structured pathway for them to obtain higher qualifications.

Entry Requirements & Levels of Entry

Applicants should note the following specific entry requirements and level placements, which vary depending on their qualifications and chosen program:

•  BSc Nursing: Open to NAC holders only. Entry is at Level 200.

•  BSc Midwifery: Available to both NAC and NAP holders. Entry is at Level 100.

•  BSc Public Health Nursing: Open to NAC, NAP, and CHN holders. NAP/CHN holders will be admitted into Level 200, while NAC holders will be admitted into Level 100.

Additional Requirements:

•  Must be a holder of a Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC), Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP), or Community Health Nurse (CHN) certificate.

•  Must be licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana with a valid PIN.

•  Must have at least three years of work experience.

•  Must obtain study leave from their current employer.
