The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced that power outages will be experienced across the country for the next three weeks due to a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria.
According to a statement released on Thursday, June 13th, the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has explained that the reduction in gas supply is due to maintenance works being undertaken by a gas supplier in Nigeria.
“The maintenance has caused a reduction in overall power generation capacity in Ghana which could result in load management over the period of the work”
GRIDCo and ECG have assured the public that they are collaborating with other stakeholders to optimize available resources and minimize the impact of the power outages on consumers.
The companies sincerely apologized for the inconvenience caused.
