The Ministry of Education is calling upon all prospective first-year Senior High School (SHS) students and their parents or guardians to prioritize the selection of science courses as the school selection and placement process for the year 2023 has begun.
This call is in line with the Ministry of Education’s strategic plan for 2018-2030, which aims to achieve a balanced enrollment ratio of 60% for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, and 40% for arts and humanities at the tertiary level.
Currently, the enrollment ratio stands at 40% for STEM and 60% for arts and humanities.

To support this goal, the Ministry has made substantial investments in infrastructure, including the construction and refurbishment of over 300 state-of-the-art laboratories in second-cycle institutions across the country.
These modern laboratories are expected to significantly enhance the quality of science education.
Additionally, the Ministry assures prospective students, their guardians, and the general public that extra vacancies have been created specifically for science courses to accommodate students interested in pursuing a science-based education.
