The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), led by Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel, has provided a fresh update on the payment date for teacher trainees’ allowances.
In a press conference held on May 31, 2024, which focused on the payment of students’ loans and the delay in teacher trainees’ allowances, Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel revealed that, following their earlier press conference, NUGS engaged with the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
As a result, the government has released GH₵27 million for the payment of allowances to 58,617 teacher trainees across the various Colleges of Education.
According to Daniel, the SLTF has scheduled payment of two months’ worth of arrears to be made to trainees on Monday, June 3, 2024.
