The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School and Private Candidates for the year 2025.
Registration for school candidates will begin on Monday, February 17th, and conclude on Friday, March 21st, 2025.
This examination is exclusively for third-year students in Junior High Schools. First or second-year students and non-bona fide students are not permitted to register.
Eligibility
- Third-year Junior High School students are eligible.
- Registration of first and second-year students is prohibited.
- Only bona fide students of the school may register.
Registration Procedure
The registration process is broken down into the following key stages:
- Personal Information and Subject Selection: February 17th – March 21st, 2025 (Capturing candidate details, subject choices, and photographs)
- Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS) Upload: April 4th – April 30th, 2025
- School Choice Selection: May 5th – May 31st, 2025 (Downloading software, selecting schools, and uploading data)
Heads of Schools are urged to carefully review the following documents before commencing the registration:
- BECE Registration Procedure Flyer.
- Notes for the Guidance of Heads of School on Registration of Candidates.
- User Manual for BECE-BRS software.
The ‘User Manual’ and ‘Registration Software’ can be downloaded from the registration website using the school’s login credentials.
Correct subject selection is crucial during registration, and finalizing registration data should occur only after all corrections have been made.

Submission of Materials
A Photo Album generated from the Registration Software must be printed and submitted to the Council through District Directors of Education by Monday, 31st March, 2025.
Corrections can be made online until 21st March, 2025, with a new statement of entries reflecting the corrected version to be printed in each case.
Payment of Registration Fees
For private schools, registration fees should be paid at the following banks after finalizing and uploading the candidates’ registration data online.
The Government of Ghana will cover the registration fees for public school candidates.

Please Note:
- Registration is valid only after the payment of the registration fee.
- There are no bank charges on the fees paid.
- Payment orders will not be accepted.
