In a horrifying incident that unfolded in Asante Akyem Agogo, a small town in the Ashanti Region, a Basic School teacher lost his life in a brutal murder allegedly triggered by his pursuit of another man’s girlfriend.
Maxwell Opoku, a dedicated educator at Saint Augustin R/C Junior High School, was tragically attacked on the evening of July 11, 2023, by an unidentified masked individual.
According to witnesses, the ill-fated night took a sinister turn around 9:00 pm when Maxwell Opoku, after meeting a 22-year-old seamstress in close proximity, fell victim to a sudden and merciless assault.
In the midst of the savage attack, the teacher’s cries for help and agonizing screams echoed through the air, piercing the quiet of the night. Eventually, concerned individuals arrived at the scene only to discover Maxwell Opoku lying in a pool of his own blood.
The ruthless assailant had targeted Maxwell Opoku with a machete, inflicting severe wounds on various parts of his body, including his wrists, head, and other vulnerable areas.
Tragically, despite being rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, the gravity of his injuries proved fatal, leading to his untimely demise.

Reports suggest that Maxwell Opoku had previously received threats from an unidentified individual over his close bond with the young seamstress at the center of the altercation.
Confirming the incident, Enock Asiedu, the assemblyman representing the Agogo Obuase electoral area, expressed his shock and sorrow.
He revealed that the police had initiated a thorough investigation into the matter and had already taken the female acquaintance into custody to aid in their inquiries.

The community, left distraught by this senseless act of violence, is now anxiously awaiting justice for Maxwell Opoku.
