President John Dramani Mahama has called for a comprehensive overhaul of Ghana’s education system, urging stakeholders to collaborate in building an inclusive, equitable, and transformative framework.

Speaking at the National Consultative Forum on Education held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, President Mahama emphasized the critical role of education in preparing students for future service.

“Education must prepare our students for service. That is the task we have. We must make recommendations that are far-reaching, transformative, and necessary for developing the global Ghanaian,” President Mahama stated.

President Mahama highlighted the collective responsibility of shaping Ghana’s educational future, urging all parties to seize the moment and create a legacy of hope, opportunity, and transformation for future generations.

“The future of this country is in our hands. Let us seize this moment and work together to create a legacy of hope, opportunity, and transformation for future generations,” he said.

Key areas for reform were outlined, including foundational learning, teacher education, infrastructure development, and the integration of education technology.

President Mahama also stressed the importance of forging deepened partnerships with parents, traditional authorities, and local communities to support every child’s educational journey.

“We’ll prioritize the actionable reforms proposed here with clear timelines, and measurable outcomes to guide our steps. Regular updates on progress will be shared with the public to build trust and transparency,” President Mahama assured.

As he officially opened the forum, President Mahama encouraged participants to approach the task with objectivity, courage, creativity, and unwavering commitment.
