The National Service Authority (NSA) has firmly denied recent media allegations regarding the introduction of “Ghost Names” and payroll inflation for National Service Personnel allowances from 2018/2019 to 2023/2024.

In a statement issued on 16th December, 2024, the NSA categorically dismissed these claims as “baseless and unfounded.”

The Authority highlighted the implementation of robust electronic measures since 2021, which have significantly enhanced checks and balances in the mobilisation and deployment of personnel.

These measures have reportedly prevented numerous fraud attempts and saved over 300 million cedis in four years.

“No system is perfect, but the evidence of eliminating fraudsters from the National Service portal is overwhelming,” the NSA stated.

The Authority emphasized the effectiveness of advanced technology, including the Ghana card, facial verification, and proof of eligibility from tertiary institutions.

Following the allegations, NSA revealed it conducted a swift review and found them to be untrue.

The Governing Board, during an emergency meeting on December 12, 2024, requested the National Investigation Bureau to investigate the claims. “We are unable to substantiate any rationale for these damaging allegations,” the NSA noted.
