Ministry of the Interior Declares August 4th Statutory Public Holiday

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior on July 26th, 2023, the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery (MP), officially declared Friday, August 4th, 2023 as a statutory public holiday.

This date, which marks Founders’ Day, is to be observed throughout the country.

The announcement, addressed to the general public, informed citizens that Friday, August 4th, 2023 has been designated as a day of significant historical importance and should be respected as a public holiday.
