The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has directed the immediate annulment of all public sector appointments and recruitments made after December 7, 2024, citing non-compliance with good governance practices and principles.

The directive aims to address concerns surrounding end-of-tenure appointments made as the previous administration prepared to transition out of power.

In a letter addressed to all heads of government institutions on 10th February, 2025, the Chief of Staff stated that these last-minute appointments were inconsistent with the government’s stated position against such practices.

“Consistent with government pronouncements in relation to near end-of-tenure appointments and recruitment, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitment made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” the letter emphasized.

“Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated,” the letter concluded.
