The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has announced a 10% increase in the National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) for 2025, bringing it to GHS 19.97.

The decision was reached at a meeting held in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in accordance with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).

According to a communiqué released by the NTC, the Committee carefully considered the current economic challenges, cost of living, business sustainability, and the need for higher employment levels in determining the new minimum wage.

“In determining the 2025 NDMW, the NTC took into account the current economic challenges, cost of living, sustainability of businesses and desirability of attaining higher level of employment,” the statement read.

The new NDMW will take effect on March 1, 2025. All establishments, institutions, and organizations currently paying below the new rate are required to adjust their wages accordingly.

The NTC has warned that any establishment found to be in violation of the 2025 NDMW will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo (MP), Minister of the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, signed the communiqué on behalf of the Government.

Nana Dr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee, President of the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA), signed on behalf of employers, and Mr. Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana, signed on behalf of organized labor.

“This agreement reflects a delicate balance between the needs of workers and the ability of businesses to operate sustainably,” stated Mr. Ansah. “We believe this 10% increase will provide some relief to workers facing rising cost of living pressures.”
