Thousands like you are asking whether there will be an entrance examination for College of Education applicants for the 2023/2024 academic year.

On a-day stakeholders’ engagement on the Ghana Teachers Licensure Examination(GTLE) held in Kumasi in February last year, The Registrar of the NTC, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku made it known admissions into Colleges of Education will no longer be a direct entry based on the results obtained at the WASSCE.

The new directive implies that all applicants who plan to gain admission would be obliged to write and pass an entrance examination.

Adding that the new entrance examination for persons who wish to become professional teachers through the Colleges of Education will write the Ghana Basic Education Skills Examination Test (GBEST).

The examination is to enable the assessment of the applicants in numeracy and literacy.

He said the reforms were to ensure that students who applied to be equipped as teachers had the required credentials and propensity to become teachers.

However, this was scheduled to take place in August last year.

With the delay in admission and the double track system run by the colleges of Education, it is yet to be confirmed if the 2023/2024 applicants will take part in this entrance examination.
