The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 Second Series.
In a statement released on 28th February, 2025, WAEC indicated that a total of 38,316 candidates participated in the examination, which included 17,596 males and 21,131 females, while 1,354 candidates were absent.
Malpractice
According to WAEC, during the examination and marking exercise, they detected instances of malpractice.
As a result, the subject results of 303 candidates and the entire results of 108 candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into these cases.
WAEC cautioned, “We are committed to maintaining the integrity of our examinations and will take necessary actions against any form of malpractice.”

Performance
The performance of candidates in the four core subjects is as follows:
- English Language: 13,406 candidates (54.79%) obtained grades A1-C6, while 3,300 (13.49%) received grade D7, 3,156 (12.90%) got grade E8, and 3,291 (13.45%) received grade F9.
- Mathematics (Core): 10,196 candidates (37.44%) scored grades A1-C6, while 2,997 (11.00%) obtained grade D7, 3,350 (12.30%) received grade E8, and 10,190 (37.42%) got grade F9.
- Integrated Science: 13,446 candidates (53.31%) attained grades A1-C6, while 3,032 (12.02%) received grade D7, 3,450 (13.68%) got grade E8, and 4,656 (18.46%) scored grade F9.
- Social Studies: 16,571 candidates (87.88%) achieved grades A1-C6, while 586 (3.11%) obtained grade D7, 427 (2.26%) received grade E8, and 1,086 (5.76%) got grade F9.
Caution
WAEC has warned the public to be vigilant against scammers who claim to upgrade results for a fee.
“WAEC’s results database is well secured, and all results can be authenticated. Institutions and organizations are advised to confirm or verify results directly from WAEC or use the verification service on our website.”

Steps to Check Results
Candidates can check their results online by following these steps:
- Visit the WAEC official website at https://ghana.waecdirect.org/
- Enter your index number and examination year.
- Select the type of examination (e.g., WASSCE for Private Candidates).
- Enter the card serial number and PIN (found on the scratch card bought).
- “Submit” to view your results.
