The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has provided an update on the release of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School results.
According to WAEC, if all goes as planned, the results will be released on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, mentioned that the council is working tirelessly to meet the December 14 deadline.

A total of 447,204 candidates participated in the 2023 WASSCE for School, consisting of 211,834 males and 235,370 females.
These candidates were drawn from 975 public and private Senior High Schools across the country. This number represents a 5.8% increase compared to the 2022 entry figure of 422,883.
The examination took place at 834 centers, offering a total of 60 subjects, including 4 core subjects and 56 electives.
The WASSCE for School commenced on July 31, 2023, with the Visual Art Project work and concluded on September 26, 2023.

In addition to the WASSCE for School, WAEC has also released the provisional results of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior High School students.
A total of 600,900 candidates from 18,993 private and government Junior High Schools participated in the national school examination.
This figure includes candidates with visual and hearing impairments, as well as other special educational needs.

Furthermore, the 2023 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates, administered by WAEC, recorded an entry figure of 1,839 candidates. Out of this total, 61 candidates were absent from the examination.
The BECE was conducted at fifteen centers, mainly located in the regional capitals.

WAEC will be dispatching the provisional BECE results to the respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.
