On Sunday, 26th March 2023, the Komenda Circuit’s three Methodist schools, Aldersgate Methodist Basic, Dunwell Methodist, and Komenda College Practice Basic School, launched their education week.
The event was held at the Wesley Methodist Church in Komenda and was officiated by the superintendent minister for the circuit, Very Reverend James Dominic Hammond.
The primary goal of the launch was to raise funds to support the three schools in the circuit through the Methodist Church.

The three headteachers, along with their pupils, were present at the church, alongside other well-wishers, to mark the occasion.

Speaking with Coleman Publications, Papa Kwamina Sam, the headteacher for Komenda College Practice Basic School posited the event was originally scheduled to be launched earlier in the term, but due to the shortness of the term and its activity-packed nature, it was pushed back until now.
He emphasized that it is a tradition for the Methodist church in the circuit to hold such events to support the three schools, and sometimes the funds raised are used to maintain the schools, including painting, renovation, and other necessary works.
The event was held under the theme of “Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life of Jesus Christ,” which emphasized the importance of living a life that reflects the teachings of Christ.

Pupils, teachers, and all those present were urged to strive towards a better society by ensuring that their lives reflect the values of Christ.

The launch of education week is not only an opportunity to raise funds for the schools but also an opportunity to foster community support for the education system.
The Methodist schools in the Komenda Circuit have a long-standing reputation for providing quality education to children in the area, and events such as this one help to ensure that they continue to do so.
