Brief Background
Accra College of Education is one of the foremost public colleges of education in Ghana.
Established on September 8, 1909, the college has a rich history of providing quality teacher education to Ghana’s future educators.
Formerly known as Accra Teacher Training College (ATTRACO), Accra College of Education has played a significant role in shaping Ghana’s education system.

Current Programmes
Accra College of Education offers a diverse range of programmes designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their profession.

Since its inception, the college has run numerous programmes, and currently, it offers a four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme.
The B.Ed. Programme includes three specializations, namely;
- Early Childhood Education
- Primary Education
- Junior High School (JHS) Education.
The JHS Education programme at Accra College of Education is unique, as it offers seven specializations that students can choose from. These include
- Mathematics
- Visual Art
- Home Economics
- Languages (including French)
- Geography
- Science
- ICT
Admission Requirements
The general requirement for admission to the 4-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme is as follows:
WASSCE Holders:
CREDIT PASSES (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language, and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of
SSSCE Holders:
CREDIT PASSES (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising Three(3) Core subjects, including English Language, and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
