
The Students Representative Council of St. John Bosco’s College of Education has submitted a petition to the Governing Council, appealing for the renewal of Principal Prof. Joseph Amikuzuno’s tenure.
The petition, endorsed by several student leaders, highlights the principal’s transformative leadership and significant contributions to the college.
“We attest that his tenure has been transformative, commendable, and inspiring,” the student leaders stated.
They emphasized the principal’s achievements, which include enhancing campus security, resolving a 42-year-old land dispute, and introducing new academic programs.

The petition detailed nine key areas of Prof. Amikuzuno’s contributions:
- Enhancement of Campus Security: Construction of a perimeter fence wall to safeguard students and staff.
- Community Engagement: Establishing a robust relationship with the local community.
- Resolution of Land Dispute: Mediating an end to a long-standing land dispute.
- Academic Excellence: Diversifying the curriculum and enriching students’ experiences.
- Innovative Initiatives: Implementing forward-thinking measures like plug-in classes and the Campus Life Radio Programme.
- Infrastructure Development: Overseeing significant infrastructural enhancements, including the completion of an auditorium.
- Transparent Leadership: Demonstrating governance characterized by transparency and accountability.
- Staff Development: Facilitating staff research and professional development.
- Promotion of Catholic Values: Strengthening the college’s spiritual fabric through various projects.
The student leaders urged the Governing Council to reappoint Prof. Amikuzuno for an additional four-year term.
“We firmly believe that his continued leadership will further propel the institution toward unparalleled excellence,” they asserted.

They also cautioned that any decision to terminate his tenure prematurely could compel them to explore all lawful avenues to assert their concerns.
“We remain committed to collaborative engagement, procedural integrity, and adherence to the principles of justice and equity,” the petition concluded.
