The National Teaching Council has issued a stern warning to all schools in the country, both public and private, that employing unlicensed teachers is illegal.
In a bid to ensure that all teachers in the country meet the required standards, the council has invited the National Council of Private School Teachers to discuss the registration of licenses for non-professional teachers.
During an interview with Coleman Publications on Monday, 20th March 2023, Mr. Ackon James, the Executive Director of the National Council of Private School Teachers, emphasized that the association represents the interests of teachers, and he strongly believes that private schools will hasten to obtain licenses for their teachers after meeting with the NTC in order to avoid facing the law.
He added that he is ready and willing to offer his assistance to private schools in registering their teachers for the required license, thus giving them the legal right to practice the teaching profession.
Mr. James Ackon urged school heads and owners of private schools to take note of the NTC’s directive and comply accordingly. Failure to do so may result in legal repercussions, which could negatively impact the school’s reputation and standing within the educational community.
