The Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated that there shall be no end-of-term examination for students at the Basic level for the second term of the 2021/22 Academic year.
This was made known by The Central Regional Education Directorate through a memo to the teachers.
According to the Directorate, they have observed that most teachers do not conduct regular weekly class tests to assess pupils’ performances as instructed.
However, most schools/teachers wait until the end of the term to conduct a one shot end-of-term examination with its attendant cost on parents.
The Directorate therefore directs that; Regular Class Tests, assignments, class exercises, homework, project work, etc. should be conducted to assess pupils’ performance.
For Basic 1 to JHS 2, the printing of end of term examination should be done only at the end of the academic year.
Meanwhile, Mock examinations for JHS 3 pupils are allowed to continue as scheduled by the various schools.
