The management of the National Service Scheme has achieved a significant milestone by securing government approval for an upward adjustment of monthly allowances for National Service Personnel.
Starting from January 2023, the monthly allowance will be increased from GH₵559.04 to GH₵715.57, providing a significant boost to the income of these dedicated individuals.
This momentous approval was conveyed through a letter dated 18th July 2023, signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Abena Osei-Asare (MP).
It represents the outcome of a series of engaging discussions and negotiations between the National Service Scheme, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.
The letter also directs the Controller and Accountant-General to promptly implement the new levels of personal allowances for National Service Personnel. This ensures that the financial benefits of this upward adjustment are promptly received by the beneficiaries.

One important implication of this approval is that all current National Service Personnel who are actively serving will be entitled to arrears. These arrears will account for the difference in the upward adjustment from January 2023 onwards.
