On Wednesday, 14th June 2023, the Central Regional Office of the National Service Scheme organized an orientation programme for the final year students of Komenda College of Education.
The event, held at the Robert Mensah Complex Hall, aimed to give pre-orientation to all the final year students on the dos and don’ts of the National Service Scheme.
The Regional Director, Mr. Emmanuel Kwofie, was the main speaker at the event. He took the students through the eligibility and criteria for service under the scheme.

He emphasized on the need to avoid offenses such as evasion, desertion, self-posting, and absenteeism, which are punishable under the Service Act 426 that governs the scheme.
He also enlightened the students about the types of leaves one could possibly access while serving, as well as the benefits a National Service Personnel can obtain from the scheme.
The students of Komenda College of Education were also given a hands-on experience of the NSS registration process, as well as vital documents one would need to complete the process.

The topic of NSS allowances and the payout options were thoroughly discussed, to ensure that none of the students missed out on their entitled compensations while on service.
During the interaction section, the students’ queries were addressed by the NSS team, creating an excellent forum for a wonderful learning and orientation experience.
