The leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and the Colleges of Education Non-teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG) have issued a joint communique expressing their displeasure and dissatisfaction with the way the Government has handled issues affecting the welfare of its members in the 46 public colleges of education over the years

In such respect, the two associations have given the government five(5) crucial working days to address them.

Some of the concerns raised by both CETAG and CENTSAG that must be met include ;

  1. Unilateral determination of April 2023 by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) as the effective date for placing First Degree Holders of CENTSAG on l7H on the SSSS.
  2. Undue delay by the Ministry of Education in responding to their request for payment of compensation for all-year-round work to both teaching and non-teaching staff
  3. Deliberate variation of Fuel, Vehicle Maintenance, and Off-Campus allowances of CETAG and CENTSAG members as compared to their counterparts in other analogous institutions in the state of the rising cost of fuel prices in the country.
  4. Unfair retrospective deductions of office holding allowances paid to some members of CENTSAG and CETAG.
  5. Non-finalisation of CETAG’s Conditions of Service (CoS) negotiations which started on 14 August 2021

CETAG and CENTSAG stated unequivocally that by Friday, 11th November 2022, if their demands have not been met, they shall reactivate their indefinite strike actions which they suspended on January 24 and April 14, 2022, respectively.
