
Komenda College of Education has held its 18th Matriculation ceremony to welcome fresh students into the various programs offered by the college for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The ceremony, held with great fervor on February 26, 2025, saw participation from management, lecturers, dignitaries, and well-wishers, witnessing the matriculation of 497 new students into the college fraternity.
Speaking at the ceremony, the principal of the college, Very Reverend Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the students and thanked God for a successful admission process.
He noted that the college’s focus is on its students, and the event is a crucial program in the academic calendar.
“This event is crucial because it allows students to pledge their commitment to the college,” he stated.

He urged the students to actively participate in their own education and learning, adding that it is their number one priority for being in the college.
Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson also encouraged the freshmen to build good relationships with their peers and form meaningful connections.
The Principal acknowledged the challenges faced by the students during their application process, particularly the delays in the reporting date caused by last year’s industrial strike action by CETAG.
He lauded their resilience, stating that their determination to join the college was admirable.

He revealed that the college received 3,935 applications from qualified applicants but, due to the limited admission quota set by the government, the college was able to admit only 497 students for the 2024/2025 academic year.
“We received 3,935 applications from qualified applicants, but due to the limited admission quota and considering factors such as diversity and inclusivity, we were able to admit only 497 students,” Prof. Wilson explained.

Prof. Wilson highlighted the college’s near gender parity, reaffirming its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all.
He urged the freshmen to familiarize themselves with the student handbook, readily available on the college’s website, and to adhere to the established rules and regulations.

He also reiterated the college’s zero tolerance for bullying and gambling, adding, “The college environment is one where everyone deserves to stay safe and be at peace to enhance teaching and learning.”
He made it clear that sports betting and gambling are unacceptable in the college.
Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson urged the freshmen to make good use of the library and other resources, including the Guidance and Counseling Unit, made available by the college.
Adding a unique dimension to the college experience, Prof. Wilson announced that the freshmen would dedicate up to two hours per week to working on the college farm.
“This initiative is designed to instill essential farming skills and knowledge of agricultural into our students,” he explained.
He disclosed that the college harvested an impressive 54 bags of maize from its farms last year, demonstrating the success of this hands-on approach.

Very Reverend Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson concluded by congratulating the students, and urging them to make good use of the internet and social media while avoiding the posting of unnecessary content.
“Ethical use of the internet is another thing you should prioritize,” he cautioned. “Remember, social media doesn’t forget, and whatever you share today can be revisited tomorrow. Make good use of social media” he concluded.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of AAMUSTED, Prof. Gilbert Owiah Sampson urged the freshmen to make good use of the resources made available to the college by AAMUSTED to enhance their learning.
He revealed that the university is committed to working closely with the college to address challenges faced by trainees and ensure they receive the necessary relevant education as stipulated by the B.Ed program.

He added that the university is interested in the holistic development of its students, including trainees in affiliated colleges of education.
He urged the students to know that the path they’ve taken isn’t just a profession but a calling they must dedicate themselves to.
