Some individuals have made projections suggesting the delay in the disbursement of the trainees’ allowances means it has been canceled but leadership does not want to make it ‘public’.

Some trainees likewise agree, saying for their Mother Association-TTAG updating its members without touching on the allowance makes it weird

However, checks by our News Team reveal the government has not canceled the trainees’ allowances as many are claiming.

It was mentioned the government of Ghana has allocated an amount of GH¢241,913,000 for the payment of trainees’ allowances for the 2022/2023 academic year.

This alone discredits the claim of the government scrapping the allowances for the 2022/23 academic year.

The Executive Director of GTEC, Professor Mohammed Salifu has also made it known there is no policy change with the reintroduction of the trainees allowances, adding that, they are dealing with an existing policy that recognizes that teacher trainees are paid allowances.

Our checks again reveal that the students’ Loan Trust Fund(SLTF) has upgraded its website by adding features that make it effortless to compile and collect Students’ data for easy processing.

The system can detect students having issues with their data and easily prompt their Liaison Officers to effect the necessary corrections.

All these are measures to ensure easy disbursement of trainees’ allowances.

Teacher trainees are urged to disregard the circular claiming trainees ‘allowances have been canceled, and keep their fingers cross as their stipends would be disbursed to them at the appropriate time.
