The Director for Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Prof. Yayra Dzakadzie, Ph.D, has extended an invitation to the leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG).
The purpose of the meeting is to engage in discussions regarding the implementation of the arbitral award order issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, 21st August 2023 at the Minister’s conference room in Accra.

In response to the Ministry’s invitation, the leadership of CETAG acknowledged the receipt of the letter and replied that they would be grateful if the scheduled meeting can be held online via Zoom.
According to them, after their meeting with NLC on Wednesday, they met at their National Secretariat in Kumasi where they engaged with other structures of their union, and the Ministry’s letter came at a time they were transiting to return to their respective stations.

Therefore, for them to return to Accra on Monday for a physical meeting will be practically impossible.
The leadership of CETAG expressed its readiness to engage constructively with the Ministry of Education to find a lasting solution to the impasse on Monday if they agree to meet them via Zoom.

However, as it stands now, the strike is still in progress, and trainees continue to bear the brunt of the stalemate.
