Holy Child College of Education, situated in the Western region, proudly stands as the only female teacher trainee college in the area.

However, the institution finds itself in a precarious situation, desperately in need of infrastructure improvements and essential resources to facilitate a better educational environment.

In a heartfelt plea, the college administration is calling upon the government to direct its attention towards the dire state of the school and extend support for the betterment of teaching and learning.

Dr Francis Hull Adam, the Principal of Holy Child College of Education, highlights several critical areas where the institution is currently lacking in a interaction with Angel FM.

The foremost concern revolves around the absence of adequate halls of residence, staff bungalows, lecture halls, and other essential amenities.

According to him, these facilities are not only crucial for the comfort and convenience of the students and faculty but are also essential for accommodating a higher intake of students for the upcoming 2023/2024 academic year.

Furthermore, the operational vehicles currently available are in a state of disrepair, making it challenging to conduct day-to-day activities efficiently. The buses, generously donated by the former president, John Agyekum Kuffour, have fallen into disrepair and are no longer functional.

As a result, the college is hindered in its efforts to organize educational trips, field visits, and various extracurricular activities.

The principal added that the college lacks a modernized and fully equipped ICT Lab. The existing small lab is insufficient to cater to the increasing number of students, resulting in limited access to computers.

Dr Adam emphasizes the importance of a robust and comprehensive ICT facility to enhance the students’ digital literacy and prepare them for the evolving demands of the modern world.

“Without adequate technological resources, the college fears its students may fall behind in acquiring essential skills for their future careers”, he stated

The Principal proudly highlights that Holy Child College of Education has been recognized as one of the best-performing schools in recent rankings conducted by the University of Cape Coast (UCC). Despite the challenges faced, the college continues to deliver exceptional education and produce highly skilled and dedicated teachers.
