In recent weeks, many have been reaching out to Coleman Publications to inquire about a rumored increase in National Service allowances paid to personnel.

We would like to clarify that there has been no official communication from the presidency or NSA confirming such an increase.

Though the Acting Director General of NSA, Felix Gyamfi, speaking on Joy FM’s PM Express on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, hinted that the president may consider increasing the NSS allowance, this decision has not been confirmed, and there is currently no timeline for when it might happen.

“I think President Mahama understands the circumstances that we are in, and having reduced the corruption, the thievery, and the scheme by that much, I’m sure already he’s thinking about, ‘Okay, can we claw back some of the money that we have saved?’ So it’s in the pipeline a little bit,” he disclosed.

Therefore, the news circulating that the allowance has been increased from GH₵ 715 to GH₵ 1200 is not accurate.

Service personnel have long called for an increment in their allowances, citing rising inflation and increasing cost of living. The Director’s comments suggest that the government is actively working towards a solution, but no timeline has been set.

Coleman Publications will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. For now, the rumored increase remains just that—a rumor.
