As once said by Eddie Compass; “Every man in a leadership position must know when it’s time to hand over the reins”, The Mathematics and ICT Students’ Association of Komenda College of Education on Saturday, 9th July, 2022, held its handing over and swearing-in Ceremony.
The event which was held at the College Complex Hall was tied with unveiling of the Association’s Website and presentations of certificates and awards to executives and other deserving Students of the Association.
Past HoDs of the Association including Mr. Rockson Bentil, Mr. Daniel Nkum, the Quality Assurance Officer, Mr. Prince Mark Kwamena Eghan, Tutors in the Mathematics and ICT Department and other Staff Members of the college graced the occasion.
Establishment of Mathematics Resource Center
In His ‘Exiting Speech’, Mr. Evans Amanor Tetteh made it known that, the association through the effort of their patron has secured some fund to kick start an establishment of Mathematics Resource center in the college.
He further opined that, the facility when done will serve as a training facility for the Basic School Teachers in and around the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abream Municipality in the near future. He urged all the Tutors and Students in the department to aid the successful establishment of this center.

Evans added that, the association has also equipped its members with skills including how to format PC using Windows 10 Setup, how to Effectively use Scientific Calculator to solve objectives texts items, as well as graphic and website designs skills.
The President, Mr. Alhassan Kamara, in his address promised to continue the pace and the race the ‘Evans Led administration’ ended. “With my able team and members, I want to assure you we are starting at where you’ve ended and we will surely complete all that you have started for the association”, he added.
Focus on your books
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Cynthia Yalley admonished the students and the individuals present to take their academics serious. She further stated that, there are a lot of activities that might occupy them, but their ultimate focus should be on their books.
The Chairman, Mr. Osei Kojo Agyemang, in his closing remarks expressed his sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries and the individuals who graced the programme.
He further asked them to continue supporting the association and their initiatives as they are aimed at equipping students’ teachers with the 21st century skills in teaching and learning of mathematics.
The ceremony was climaxed with presentations of certificates and awards to executives and other deserving individuals of the association.
Background
Considering the essential role of Mathematics and ICT in the advancement and development of every Nation, both socially and economically, it is paramount for every nation to train high level manpower, well equipped and vested in Mathematics and ICT Education.

And as a Department in the College with the philosophy of developing professional educators and researchers in Mathematics and ICT, it’s very necessary to bring all Mathematics and ICT students together and offer them a platform to meet from time to time.
This will help mobilize support for them to deploy the 21st Century skills in teaching and learning Mathematics and ICT, as well as helping to promote and facilitate good relationships between members of the Association through co-operation and networking.
On May 21,2021, the HoD, Mr. Osei Kojo Agyeman, in collaboration with tutors of the department set up the first ever Students Association in the College; Maths/ICT students’ Association with the Slogan “Maths/ICT, the Driving Engine of the World Technology”.
The Department then unveil the students Database, Departmental website on college website, social media handles and the staff welfare.
