As part of their Beyond 100 Years celebrations, the three Elmina Methodist schools in the Central Region have donated a significant number of supplies to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital.

Akotobinsin Methodist KG/Primary School, Etsiapa Memorial Methodist School, and Elmina Methodist Junior High School jointly presented the donation on May 21, 2024.

The items donated were various necessities, including toiletries, sachets of water, sanitary pads, scrubbing brushes, mops, detergents, liquid soaps, bathing soaps, drinks, and more.

The donation was officially handed over to the hospital by Mr. Jacob Andzie-Quainoo, Head Teacher of Elmina Methodist JHS, who outlined the purpose and need for the donation.

“Our donation is a gesture of compassion and support for the patients here,” said Mr. Jacob Andzie-Quainoo. “We hope these items will make a difference in their daily lives.”

He also revealed that the donation was made possible through collaborative efforts of parents, staff, and students of the three schools.

The items donated were various necessities, including toiletries, sachets of water, sanitary pads, scrubbing brushes, mops, detergents, liquid soaps, bathing soaps, drinks, and more.

The hospital administrators warmly received the donation and expressed their gratitude towards the staff and students for their thoughtful contributions.

“We are deeply grateful for this donation. These items are essential for maintaining the well-being of our patients.”

While appreciating the donation, the hospital administrators also made a humble appeal to the school authorities and the general public to continue supporting the hospital by making regular visits and contributions.

This act of kindness was part of the schools’ celebrations for surpassing a century of academic excellence.

The occasion also offered the teaching staff and students of an opportunity to interact with some of the patients. Words of advice were shared, urging individuals to always remember the power of prayer and to empathize with those facing difficult circumstances.

“It was a sobering experience,” said one student. “We learned the importance of being grateful for our health.”

Mr. Jacob Andzie-Quainoo also seized the opportunity to invite the Director and administrative staff of the Hospital to their Grand Durbar on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at SSNIT Park in Elmina.
