The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has suspend their ongoing strike based on the outcome of a voting exercise conducted on Sunday.
The decision comes as a result of the majority’s call for an end to the strike action.
Out of the 46 colleges of Education, 32 voted in favor of suspending the strike, representing a significant majority of 69.57%.

Meanwhile, the remaining 14 colleges of Education, accounting for 30.43% of the voting members, voted to continue the strike.
In light of the majority decision, CETAG has officially announced the suspension of their strike, effective from Tuesday, 5th September, 2023.
However, CETAG has made it clear that they will be closely monitoring the progress made by the Ministry of Education in implementing all the Arbitral Awards.
Should the Ministry fail to fulfill these obligations by the 31st of October, 2023, CETAG has reserved the right to reconsider their stance and take appropriate action.

As a result of this development, all members of CETAG are expected to resume their duties no later than Thursday, 7th September, 2023.
The decision to suspend the strike comes as a relief to many, as it allows for the resumption of academic activities and the restoration of normalcy in the colleges of Education.
