The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced the withdrawal of all their services amidst their ongoing strike.

The decision, made in an emergency meeting of the National Council on July 23, 2024, comes as a response to the Minister for Education’s directive to Principals and the Controller and Accountant General to withhold their July salaries due to their industrial action.

According to a letter addressed to all Local & Zonal Branches of CETAG and Principals of Colleges of Education, the association announced that the withdrawal of their services would include attendance to meetings, congregation ceremonies, academic counseling services, and supervision of students in the halls of residence.

The association stated that their action takes immediate effect until further notice.

Expressing their determination to fight for justice, the leadership revealed that they have referred the Minister’s directive to freeze their salaries to their lawyers, who are expected to take the necessary action on their behalf.

“We wish to assure all members that leadership is determined to fight on until justice is served,” the letter concludes. “Long Live CETAG! Long Live Teacher Educators! Aluta Continua!”
