For the first time in the history of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a female student has been elected as their SRC President.
Yvonne Osei Addobea emerged as the winner of their recently held elections, securing a total of 8,282 votes, which represents an impressive 37.37% of the total vote cast.
This victory not only marks a milestone for Yvonne but also signifies a significant shift in the traditionally male-dominated realm of student politics at KNUST.
Yvonne’s journey to the presidency has been characterized by a series of exceptional achievements.
Notably, she became the first female student in the history of KNUST to aspire for the prestigious SRC President position during her second year of studies (level 200).
Despite being a relative newcomer, Yvonne managed to secure an impressive runner-up position, receiving over 2,000 votes in the process. This early display of leadership qualities and determination set the stage for her future endeavours.
