The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released a comprehensive briefing outlining crucial details for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Exam Dates and Logistics:
• The BECE will be held from July 8th to 12th, 2024, with Arabic exams scheduled for July 15th. All examination materials have already been dispatched to designated depots.
• Pre-exam visits to examination centers took place on Friday, July 4th, 2024, allowing students to familiarize themselves with seating arrangements and locations.

• Different question papers will be used at each center to prevent cheating.
• Illness: Students experiencing illness will not be provided with exam papers at health facilities. Supervisors will submit a report to WAEC regarding such cases.
Strict Examination Regulations:
• Arrival Time: Candidates must be seated 30 minutes before the start of each paper (8:30am for morning papers and 12:30pm for afternoon papers).
• Uniform: Students must wear one official school uniform throughout the examination period.
• Footwear: Only cross sandals are permitted. Shoes and socks are prohibited.
• Watches: No wristwatches will be allowed in the examination hall.

• Hair: Unkempt hairstyles are not permitted.
• Writing Instrument: Only blue ball transparent pens are allowed.
• Washroom Use: Candidates requiring the washroom must be accompanied by an attendant.
Important Notes:
• Unregistered Papers: Students who write papers they are not registered for will not be graded.
• Personal Details: If a candidate notices a mistake on their scanable answer sheet, they should report it to the Headmaster after the paper.

• Seating Arrangement: Candidates will enter and sit according to index numbers provided by WAEC.
• Name/Date of Birth Changes: Requests for changes to names or dates of birth must be submitted within one month after the exam.
