In a meeting held on May 31st, 2024, the Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT) met with the Ministry of Education and the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, to discuss the recruitment of the 2022 batch of trained teachers.

The meeting, aimed at addressing concerns over the recruitment process, resulted in a series of directives that will be implemented in the coming days.

During the meeting, Dr. Nkansah acknowledged the high number of applications received by the IT department.

To streamline the process and ensure efficiency, the following directives were agreed upon:

1. All primary and junior high schools across the country with vacancies will be shortlisted and loaded into the system. This will allow candidates to select their preferred schools from the available options.

2. Candidates will have the opportunity to choose a school of their preference, as long as it is included in the system. This will provide candidates with a greater sense of agency and increase their chances of being placed in a school of their choice.

3. Once the available slots in a particular school are filled, that school will no longer appear in the system. This ensures that candidates are aware of which schools still have openings and prevents any confusion or disappointment.

4. School placements will be made after the selection process is completed. Candidates can rest assured that they will be placed in the school of their choice, as long as it is listed in the system.

It is important to note that only schools with available slots for teachers will be included in the system.

This decision was made to avoid any language barriers, reduce traveling stress for newly trained teachers, and address concerns raised by CUTT.
