The Shama District Health Directorate has held an end-of-year party for all the health workers in the District.
The programme held at the Riverside Conference Hall, Shama on Monday, 2nd January 2023 was part of the Directorate’s effort to appreciate the workers in the district for their tremendous work done in the year 2022 as well as reward individuals who performed exceptionally well in the execution of their mandates.
The event likewise served as a platform that inspired, motivated, and encouraged the health workers in the district to give up their best in the new year, 2023.
Dignitaries and Well-Wishers in Attendance
The occasion was graced by a lot of dignitaries and well-wishers including Nana Atta Kakra, Chief of Old Daboase Junction, Nana Wurapa II, Chief Of Nkwantakesedo, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, Queen-mother of Nyankrom, Nana Brekrom II, Chief of Assorko, Honourable Emmanuel Mark Ackon, Presiding Member, Dr. Pius, Dr. Gifty Amugi, Honorable Percy Ahenakwah, Mrs. Judith Naa Deide Okine, The District Health Director, and other Colleagues District Directors of Health.
Chairperson – Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba
The Chairperson, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, The Queen-Mother of Nyankrom expressed her Gratitude to the Almighty God for His protection over the health workers throughout last year.
She urged the workers and all present to enjoy themselves and have fun.

“We are grateful to God for His protection and Guidance over all the workers in the district. We never heard of any bad incidence in the year 2022, and we are grateful to commence the new year on a good note. Let us enjoy ourselves and have fun as it is a thanksgiving to God and an appreciation to ourselves for our selfless service in the year 2022”, she noted.
Speech By The District Health Director
In her submission, The District Health Director, Mrs. Judith Naa Deide Okine thanked God for successfully taking them through the year 2022.
She also expressed her profound appreciation to the Health workers and the philanthropists in the District.
“We are grateful to our health workers and all the philanthropists in the District. Without you all, the health of members in the community would not have been like we see it today”, Mrs. Okine articulated.
She elucidated their gathering was purposely to share a good time.

“We all have gathered here to share a good time after we took stock of activities in 2022. We are here to relax as we wine and dine to take away the stresses of 2022 whiles preparing ourselves psychologically to meet the challenges of 2023 ahead”, she expressed.
However, she admonished all the workers to continue putting up their best by working assiduously to meet the target set for the new year.
The Director concluded by asserting some individuals will be rewarded for distinguishing themselves in the year 2022 as a hint that the “invisible eyes” of the Health Directorate are keenly monitoring every worker in the District.
“We cannot forge ahead if we do not reward staff who distinguished themselves in the year under review. All of us put up our best, however, others did exceptionally well and would be rewarded. Those to be rewarded go to tell us that; whatever we are doing in our small way, the “INVINCIBLE EYES” of the Health Directorate have been watching ( and will be watching ). All of us have indeed done our best, but we will all agree that others’ Best were EXCEPTIONALLY OUTSTANDING,” she concluded.
Awards and Honors
Best Health Facility-Beposo CHPS
The Beposo CHPS compound was honored as the Best Health Facility in Service Delivery And Income Generation in the Year 2022. According to the Directorate, their monitoring of staff, observing their activities, and selflessly taking feedback from patients and clients were exceptional.

Nana Brekrom II, Chief of Assorko
Nana Brekrom II, Chief of Assorko Community was awarded for his passion for Maternal and Child Health which even compelled him to construct and furnished a building that has aided in providing health services for his subjects and others beyond his traditional jurisdiction.

He was also lauded as the brain behind the transformation of the Shama District Health Directorate’s plan for the CHPS compound into a Complete Health Center.
Best Transformed and Hardworking Staff-Miriam Ackatiah.
Miriam Ackatiah of the Atweboana CHPS was adjured as the best transformed and hardworking staff for the year 2022. She was applauded for her humility to accept postings to very remote areas.

According to the directorate, her effort and unflinching love for humanity have compelled her to transform the Atweboana health facility.
Conclusion
It was a night of live music, dancing, eating, drinking, merrymaking, and above education.
Workers were also inspired by the various dignitaries to keep supporting and caring for humanity.
