Ghanaian students who graduate from accredited tertiary institutions are required under law to do a one-year national service to the country.
Due to this, the Ghana National Service Scheme on 20th January 2023 released postings for a total of Fifteen Thousand, Five Hundred And Seventeen(15,517) trained teachers who enrolled to undertake their mandatory national Services for the 2023/2024 service year.
These individuals were asked to visit the scheme’s website to print their appointment letters for endorsement by their respective user agencies and proceed with the registrations and validations.
Ghana Card; the only means of Verification
The Regional validation and registration began on 20th January 2023 and is expected to end on 28th February 2023 at all NSS Regional Centres across the country.
However, information reaching our News Desk reveals some of the personnel have been denied Biometric Registrations and Verifications due to their inability to provide their National Identification Card-Ghana card.
According to the Scheme, the only means for verification and authorization across all their Regional Registration centers by personnel is the Ghana card. No other card is accepted by the scheme.
Individuals without the card( those yet to register and those who have registered and yet to receive their cards) rushed to NIA offices closer to them only to be told they are updating their systems and also do not have cards for printing.
These individuals are therefore calling on the government, TTAG, NUGS, and other stakeholders to intervene as the situation is getting out of hand.
