Chaos and devastation struck Bortianor, a bustling city in the Greater Accra Region when a three-storey church building crumbled and fell to the ground.
As rescue operations begin, hopes are high that all those who were inside at the time of the collapse will be found alive and well.
Despite the frantic rescue efforts by emergency personnel, there are grave concerns that several church members and visitors may be trapped inside the rubble.
Reports suggest that the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, and that the cause of the collapse is not yet known.
Emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Ghana Police Service have flocked to the scene in droves. Reinforcements have also been called in from neighboring communities in the region to help in the rescue efforts.
