The Ghana Education Service (GES) has lifted the interdiction of Kenneth Agbomadze, Headmaster of Fijai Senior High School after being accused of collecting illegal fees without authorization.
In April, GES interdicted Mr. Agbomadze and launched an investigative committee to look into the allegations. However, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Fijai SHS disagreed with GES and put up a defense of Agbomadze, arguing that the fees were pre-approved by parents and guardians.
After reviewing the investigative committee’s report, GES has decided to allow Mr Agbomadze to return to his office. The Regional Director of Education, Felicia Agyeibea Okai, is set to oversee the handover of duties and provide support for a smooth transition.
However, GES issued a warning, emphasizing its “abhorrence to the unauthorized collection of levies and takes every act of illegal collection of monies seriously”.
The Headmaster was also reminded of his responsibilities to ensure strict compliance with all directives, rules and regulations of the Service. GES emphasized that it will not hesitate to impose severe sanctions on any officer who flouts its policies and regulations in the future.
