The ongoing strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has entered its third week, with no end in sight.

The National President of CETAG, Prince Obeng-Himah, in a recent interview on Ghana Tonight Show on TV3 emphasized that they will not call off their industrial action until the agreed allowances are paid.

CETAG’s demands extend beyond allowances, as they are also fighting for improved working conditions and the possible cancellation of the double-track system implemented in the colleges of education. According to them, the year-round workload is taking a toll on the health of their members.

In response to the strike, the Ministry of Education released a communique on August 9th, threatening to freeze the salaries of CETAG Members if they do not return to the classroom promptly.

However, CETAG considers this action as intimidation and unwarranted. They strongly assert that they are prepared to stand up for their rights and will resume work only when their demands are met.

Currently, CETAG remains firm in its stance, insisting that they will only resume work once their demands are met
