The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released all withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

The release follows a legal battle and threats of nationwide protests from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).

John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, has confirmed the release in a recent interview.

“As we promised, we kept to our promises. So by the close of February 28, we had uploaded all the results of the candidates whose results had been withheld,” Kapi stated.

The decision to release the results comes after the court ordered WAEC to do so.

“The court had ordered that we should release the results of those candidates. And so we’ve gone ahead with all the results. So we don’t have any outstanding results as far as, you know, those exams are concerned,” Kapi explained.

WAEC had previously scheduled February 28, 2025, as the deadline for releasing the withheld results, citing ongoing investigations into alleged malpractice and irregularities during the examination.

“The Council has continued its hearing for the affected candidates and has been releasing results as appropriate,” Kapi stated at a press conference on February 7, 2025.

“The Council wishes to assure all stakeholders that all cases of malpractices will be finalized and also results released by February 28.”
