After much deliberation, the Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) has finally reached a decision on the long-awaited fee-paying policy for the affiliated colleges of Education at the University.

This significant decision was made during an Emergency Professional Advisory Board Meeting that was held on the 14th and 15th of March, 2023.

As per the new policy, all students, including the level 400 students who are currently on internship, will be required to pay an amount of Four Hundred and Sixty Ghana (GH¢ 460.00) per semester as examination fees for the academic year, 2022/2023.

The fees will be used to cover the cost of administering examinations, grading papers, and other associated administrative expenses.

This fee will be mandatory for all students, and failure to pay the fee will result in students being unable to take their examinations.

Furthermore, students in the 200, 300 and 400 levels will be required to pay 70% of their total fees at the beginning of the first semester, in order to register their courses.

The remaining fees will then need to be paid exactly at the beginning of the semester. This means that students will need to ensure that they have the necessary funds to cover the fees at the specified times, to avoid any disruptions to their studies.

While this new policy may be seen as a financial burden for some students, it is important to note that the fees collected will be used to improve the quality of education and facilities provided to students.

ITECPD is committed to ensuring that students receive the best education possible, and this policy is one way of achieving this goal.

Overall, the decision to introduce a fee-paying policy for colleges of Education affiliated to the University was not an easy one.

However, the Board of ITECPD firmly believes that it is in the best interest of both the students and the institution.

The new policy will help to improve the financial sustainability of the institution, while also ensuring that students have access to high-quality education and facilities.
