Graduands of the University of Ghana’s (UG) February 2025 congregation will receive their degrees without the customary medals and scroll holders due to unforeseen procurement delays, according to an official notice from the Academic Affairs Directorate.
The announcement, dated February 10, 2025, informed graduands that the distribution of these symbolic items has been postponed.
While disappointing, the university assured graduands that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and ensure the delivery of the medals and scroll holders in due course.
“Efforts are underway to ensure their delivery, and graduates will be notified of collection arrangements in due course,” the notice stated.

Despite the setback, the graduation ceremonies commenced on February 11th. Over 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students are expected to receive their degrees across 17 separate sessions over the next two weeks.

The University hopes to resolve the procurement problems quickly so that graduates can collect the missing items as soon as possible.
