The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana may declare a nationwide strike on April 26, 2023, in solidarity with the University of Cape Coast’s local chapter.
The group is protesting the university’s management’s failure to comply with the Labour Commission’s agreed terms of service for senior staff.
According to the National Chairman, Mr. Isaac Donkor, the university’s management is interpreting the laws governing public universities in their ways to the disadvantage of the beneficiaries.
The association is unhappy with the delay in resolving outstanding issues such as negotiated allowances, promotions, senior staff rank inclusion, and other grievances, and therefore taken the stance to embark on an indefinite strike.
