Information reaching Coleman Publications reveals that allowance coordinators at the various Colleges of Education are currently on strike, citing the non-fulfillment of promises made by the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG).
The coordinators, responsible for compiling and submitting students’ data to the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) for allowance payments, claim that TTAG promised compensation for their time, effort, and resources invested in the process.

Earlier this year, the coordinators refused to submit students’ data due to lack of incentives. However, TTAG allegedly promised to compensate them upon allowance disbursement.
This led to the submission of data in May, resulting in trainees receiving two months’ allowances.
However, TTAG has allegedly failed to deliver on its promise, leaving the coordinators with no choice but to withdraw their services.

Consequently, trainees facing allowance issues are unable to receive support as the coordinators are currently on strike.
According to the coordinators, they will not work on anything related to student allowances until the promises are fulfilled.
