The National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST) has taken a strict stance against the illegal registration of Private School Students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by Heads of Public Schools.

The Executive Director of N-COPST, Ackon James has led the formation of a monitoring team to address this issue.

The team has commenced investigations, and upon visiting a few public schools, they observed private students attending classes, which is a clear violation of the rules.

The public school heads responsible for the registration process according to N-COPST will be held accountable for their actions to prevent further occurrences.

N-COPST has urged private schools to help them in their efforts to prevent such incidents from happening by creating a FREE account on their Private School Portal.

By doing so, they can provide information on the portal, including students who leave their school with outstanding fees, students registered for BECE by a different school or the government, and teachers who resign unlawfully.

The consequences of such illegal actions are severe, not only for the public school heads responsible but also for private school students who may not be able to sit for the exam due to errors in the registration process.

Private school heads are urged to remain alert and report any such illegal activities to N-COPST to prevent such incidents from happening.
