In the year 2022, the National Teaching Council (NTC) announced that entrance examinations would be held for students who apply to Colleges of Education.

The exams were initially scheduled to commence for the 2023 admissions, but unfortunately, they did not take place.

Recently, during the TV3 morning show program, Dr. Clement, the Deputy Ranking Member of the Education Committee in parliament, revealed that the NTC has submitted a proposal to parliament for an amount of 7.8 million cedis to conduct the exams.

The funds would be used to cover the cost of administering the exams and ensuring that they are conducted fairly and transparently.

The entrance exam is to ensure that only students who meet certain standards are admitted into Colleges of Education.

This is to help improve the quality of teachers that are produced by these institutions and ultimately improve the quality of education in Ghana.

The NTC’s proposal is now up to Parliament to approve the funding for the entrance exams. As to whether parliament will approve or not, we will keep you updated.
