The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced the discontinuation of the GTLE Licensure Examination for traditional subjects, namely essential professional skills, literacy, and numeracy.
This decision comes as part of the ongoing reforms implemented by the NTC to improve the Licensure examination.
The recently held examination was exclusively for candidates seeking to re-sit the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 3.
As a result, the council provided three chances for candidates associated with the traditional GTLE subjects to redeem themselves.

The move has received mixed reactions from teachers across Ghana. While some applaud the decision, stating that it will raise the standard and provide teachers with the opportunity to be accessed based on their domains, others express concerns about the no opportunities for the diplomates to re-sit the exams.
