The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES), has announced significant changes to the question structure for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
English Language
The English Language paper will be divided into three sections:
• Knowledge and Understanding (20%): Interpretation, summarization, paraphrasing, and prediction based on provided information.

• Application (40%): Problem-solving, application of knowledge, and production of written text.
• Creating (40%): Essay writing, comprehension, and summary writing.
Mathematics
The Mathematics paper will comprise 50 objective test questions covering the following topics:
• Numbers (37%): Number systems, operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, and proportion
• Algebraic Reasoning (28%): Patterns, algebraic expressions, variables, equations, and geometry

• Handling Data (8%): Data analysis, probability, and statistics
Integrated Science
The Integrated Science paper will be divided into five sections:
• Diversity of Matter
• Cycles

Exam Format
All three subjects will include a combination of objective test questions, essay writing, and other written components.
